About Me
My practice of medicine has evolved over a long and varied career. I began my practice in the Army. I cared for two distinct populations, a very young healthy and fit population and an older retired population with many chronic diseases. I was grateful that my patients could see me whenever they wanted to and there were no concerns about the cost of care or medications. This worked well until Desert Storm changed my views on military medicine and I transitioned to the civilian sector in several different conventional Internal Medicine practices. As time went on, I became more focused on caring for the elderly and ultimately became Board Certified in Geriatrics as well as Hospice and Palliative Care in addition to my existing certification in Internal Medicine. Over time my independence became increasingly constrained as insurance companies and hospital systems gained a tighter hold over medical care and I again transitioned. This time it was to solo practice specializing in Nursing Home Medicine. I have done this for over 20 years but have become increasingly frustrated by the overwhelming burden of chronic disease and the lack of viable treatment options. This has led me to the complimentary fields of Functional and Longevity Medicine. I have completed additional training and obtained certification in Functional Medicine, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and Peptide Therapy. This comprehensive training allows me to individualize treatment based on the best aspects of Conventional, Functional and Longevity Medicine to optimize your health and vitality.
